Nikki Beach has a date on the calendar now. A settlement reached in 2026 lets the white daybeds stay at 1 Ocean Drive until August 2027, after which the site passes to a new operator and a restaurant compound that will not open until the end of the decade. That single fact tells you more about the Miami beach club landscape than any ranked list. The map is being redrawn. Delano came back this year after six years dark. SLS South Beach sits behind construction fencing. What follows is what is actually operating right now, and how someone who is not a hotel guest gets a daybed on a Saturday.

The scene has four tiers, and only one of them sells to the public
Nearly every serious beach club in Miami is attached to a hotel. The sand in Florida is public. The loungers, umbrellas, service and music are not, and the property that holds the frontage decides who sits on it. Understanding which tier you are dealing with before you pick up the phone is the difference between a smooth Saturday and a wasted morning.
- Hotel day clubs that sell access. Day passes and cabana reservations are available to the public, usually direct or through a booking platform.
- Hotel beach clubs for guests and residents. Where most of the genuinely refined sand sits. You get in by booking a room.
- Members-only clubs. Soho Beach House, the EDITION’s beach membership, Carillon’s capped club, and The Bath Club, which has been invitation-only since 1926.
- Destination restaurants on the water. The reservation is for lunch and the view comes with it.
South Beach
Nikki Beach
Still the most recognizable name on the sand, and now on a clock. Teepees, white daybeds, a resident DJ and a Sunday brunch that has run long enough to be an institution. It suits a group that wants volume and champagne rather than quiet. Reserve a bed well in advance on any weekend, and go while it is still there.
Delano Miami Beach
Reopened in 2026 after a six-year closure, with the Philippe Starck bones preserved: the columned entrance, the white drapes, the infinity pool aimed at the ocean. Food and beverage is run by Paris Society, with Gigi Rigolatto serving poolside and open to the public, and a members’ floor above with its own pool and spa access. This is the most consequential reopening in South Beach in a decade.
The Setai
Restrained where its neighbors are loud. Stepped pools at different temperatures, an oceanfront terrace, and service that does not perform for you. The right choice for a guest who wants the beach without a soundtrack, and the Ocean Grill terrace is one of the better places on the island to sit through a long lunch.
Planning a luxury California stay?
Skip the guesswork. Villoura specialists match you to the right villa and handle every detail, a real person replies in minutes.
1 Hotel South Beach
Reclaimed wood, dense planting, and four pools including an adults-only rooftop. Day access is sold to non-guests and is one of the easier premium entries to secure at short notice. Watr on the roof handles sunset. Good for a design-minded group that wants a full day rather than a scene.
W South Beach
The pool deck runs hot through the afternoon and the beach service is quick. Day passes are available to the public. It suits a younger group that wants energy in daylight and a short walk to dinner afterwards.
Strawberry Moon at The Goodtime Hotel
A pool deck rather than a beach, twenty-one and over, programmed with DJs on weekends. Treat it as an afternoon rather than a day, and book a table if your group is more than four.
The easier entry points
If the calendar is tight and the marquee names are full, the Ritz-Carlton South Beach, the Sagamore and Soleil Beach Club at the Kimpton Surfcomber all sell day access with proper beachfront. None of them are the scene. All of them will get you a good chair by ten in the morning.
Mid-Beach
Faena Beach
The candy-striped umbrellas are the most photographed thing on the sand in Miami, and Faena is one of the very few properties at this level that lets non-guests reserve loungers and daybeds. Butlers work the rows through the afternoon. Book the oceanfront beds and expect the rate to climb steeply from a Tuesday to a Saturday.
Soho Beach House
Members, their guests, and people staying in the house. The crowd skews creative and media-adjacent, and the kitchen is better than it needs to be. Without a membership, the practical route in is a room upstairs.
The Miami Beach EDITION
The beach club runs as an annual membership by application, offered to individuals, couples and families, and it carries the pools, spa and restaurants with it. The Matador Room handles dinner. Worth pursuing if Miami is a place you return to rather than visit once.
Nobu Hotel at Eden Roc
Morris Lapidus architecture from the 1950s, a wide pool deck stepped down toward the water, and Nobu on site. Day passes are sold. This is the most relaxed of the Mid-Beach options and the easiest one to bring a mixed-age group to without negotiation.
Carillon Miami
Wellness-led rather than party-led: a hydrothermal circuit, a large stretch of private beachfront, and a beach and wellness membership deliberately capped at a small number of people. Day access to the spa and beach is available. Choose it when the point of the day is recovery rather than visibility.
Andaz Miami Beach
The former Confidante, reworked under Andaz, with day access sold to the public and a pool deck that stays civil. A sound option on a stretch of Collins Avenue where the alternatives are expensive.
Surfside and further north
Four Seasons at The Surf Club
The 1930 club building was restored and wrapped in a Richard Meier design, and the result is the most composed beachfront in greater Miami. Cabanas are for hotel guests and residents. Le Sirenuse Miami handles the dining. This is the only entry on the list where the beach genuinely reads as private rather than sold.
Acqualina, Sunny Isles
Fifteen minutes north and a different rhythm entirely: long quiet sand, families, and Avra on the ground floor. Access is for guests and residents. Sunny Isles is where you base yourself when South Beach is not the point of the trip.
On the bay rather than the ocean
The west side of the island is the underrated half of this scene. Baia Beach Club at Mondrian South Beach and The Standard Spa on Belle Isle both face Biscayne Bay, which means calm water, sunsets instead of sunrises, and no wind carrying sand into lunch. Baia is the more social of the two and sells day passes. The Standard is adults-only and organized around a hammam and a saltwater pool, and it is the correct answer whenever the requirement is quiet. Across the water on Watson Island, Joia Beach is the clearest example of the restaurant-on-sand tier: you book a table, you get the beach, and the skyline does the rest at dusk.
How to actually get in
Book ahead. Every club worth the trip takes reservations for beds and cabanas, and the front-row positions on a Saturday are gone by midweek. Expect a food and beverage minimum on any cabana or oceanfront daybed. You are not renting furniture, you are committing to a spend, and that number rises with proximity to the water and with the day of the week. Day beds at the top properties run into the high hundreds on a peak Saturday, and cabanas considerably beyond that.
Season matters more in Miami than in most cities. December through April is high season, and three windows compress everything inside it. Art Basel week in early December fills the hotels and turns every club into a programmed event. Spring break in March is worth planning around rather than through. Memorial Day weekend is the loudest weekend of the year on the sand, and if that is not what you came for, move your dates. Summer is hot and humid and genuinely cheaper, and the service is better because the staff has room to move.
One more practical note. Arrive by late morning. Beach service at most properties winds down in the late afternoon, so a one o’clock arrival quietly costs you half the day.
Why a villa changes how you use the scene
A hotel room makes you the guest of one beach club. A villa makes you a resident of the city, free to move between them. The difference shows up in the shape of the day. You swim at home in the morning while the concierge confirms the daybeds. You spend the afternoon at Faena or the Surf Club. You come back at six to a house with a chef already working, rather than to a lobby bar and a dinner reservation you still have to chase.
Our Miami luxury villa rentals concentrate on the water, from Miami Beach and Bal Harbour to Sunny Isles and Coconut Grove. If you are still deciding where to base the week, our guide to the best Miami neighborhoods sets out the trade-offs honestly. The Villoura concierge handles the parts that require local standing: beach club reservations and cabana holds, cars and drivers, private chefs, boats. You can also browse the collection and work backward from the house.
